Fundraising

Why Fundraise?

Simply put, departmental funding does not cover the cost of providing the high standard of education services GIPS families expect for our students.

This year, the Parents’ Association has set several goals with respect to fundraising, namely;

  • generate over $40k profit;
  • reduce reliance on the Main Event as the major funding source (last year it comprised 71% of all funds raised), by improving established fundraising sources and by establishing new events; and
  • develop new sources of funds – corporate sponsorship and parent pledges

Our fundraising events

This year we are keeping many of our much-loved GIPS fundraising events, and adding a few new ones too:

  • The Make ‘n’ Bake stalls – Our now much-loved family event, we rely on items made and donated by school families for purchase.  We will run two Make & Bake stalls this year, the first was held on Friday 22nd June, and aim to raise around $4k.

  • The GIPS Spring Classic - This is a new event on the school calendar and is based on the fundraising Walk-a-thons of previous years.  Kicking off on the first day of Spring, kids will be invited to seek sponsorship to participate in a healthy colour fun-run.  The event itself is on Friday 12th October, and promises to be, well, an absolute classic and raise $5k.

  • Moonlight Cinema and Art Show - A new event, to be held on the Green in early summer, we hope this will be a great family evening and a delightful beginning to the end of the year.  We hope to raise around $3k

Other fundraising initiatives

Other important fundraising initiatives run by the Parents’ Association include Icy-Pole Friday, the Second Hand Uniform Shop, the Entertainment Book, and Mango Drive.  We hope to raise around $4k from these initiatives.

Community building events like the Mothers and Father’s Day stalls and breakfasts, and Pre-Loved Book Stall, aim primarily to cover costs only.

GIPS really value your contributions

Our kids are lucky enough to be enrolled in great school which is well-resourced, has a committed and hard-working staff, an engaging learning environment and a good and growing community spirit.  But to keep up these standards, and to continue to improve, we need your help – Get Involved, Purchase a Sponsorship Package or Donate to our Auctions or contact Mal Osborne-Smith for any further information.
