At GIPS, we offer two specialist classes in The Arts: Performing Arts and Visual Arts.

The arts play a crucial role in the primary school curriculum as they provide children with opportunities for creative expression, emotional development, and critical thinking. Through activities like music, drama, visual arts, and dance, students are encouraged to explore their imagination and build confidence while developing essential skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and communication. The arts also promote cultural understanding by exposing students to diverse perspectives and fostering appreciation for different forms of expression. Moreover, engaging in artistic experiences helps children improve their ability to focus, persevere, and think outside the box. By integrating the arts into the primary school curriculum, we support students in becoming well-rounded individuals who are not only academically capable but also emotionally intelligent and creative.

Performing Arts

Our Performing Arts class builds student skills in music, dance, theatre, and public speaking. Bi-annually we have a school performance - a wonderful memory for children and adults alike. Performing Arts often helps our students step outside their comfort zones and provides them opportunities to practise bravery, creativity, humour, and zest. Our Performing Arts class integrates music, dance, theatre and public speaking across all grade levels.

Visual Arts

Our Visual Arts class teaches explicit skills across a variety of mediums so that students not only build their creative thinking, but they also receive expert feedback on techniques to improve their craft. We explore different artists and movements from history through to contemporary art.
